Progressive Insurance lady

FLO

So I’ve been wondering who is this, kinda funny pretty hyper actress for the Progressive insurance commercials. And that’s what a lot of the Internet has been searching for also. She is really Stephanie Courtney, 39 year old married actress who lives in Los Angeles, CA. She has played roles from “ER”, to “Without a Trace” she also is the women in the very popular Glade air freshener commercial she can be seen in the yoga skit with the blue tanktop.

I’m so tired of paying for those Progressive ads that I’m switching to another insurance.

  1. I DONT LIKE HER AND WOULD NOT BUY INSURANCE FROM ANY ONE THAT USER HER. IM SO SICK OF HER ON TV I MUITE HER. SHE IS A WASTE OF GOOD AIR TIME

I have a friend that has worked for Progressive for over two years. She is college educated, bright, has awesome work ethics and they still pay her less than $13 per hour. This is why I will never have Progressive Insurance.

I can’t believe she’s 39. Love the one with the motorcycle insurance, reminds me of my sister.

Stephanie has NOT played rolls from ER etc … she has played “roles”
What is it with Americans and spelling??

LMAO it is sad isn’t it?

      • Val
      • August 30th, 2009

I totally agree with you, David. People can’t spell anymore and, when you do try to correct them, they look at you like you’re crazy!

    • August 25th, 2009

To my man David above me, this is the writer… & I have a couple of words for you.. “Fuck OFF” How dare you judge americans, & their spelling.

      • August 29th, 2009

That’a boy Mikey you told him. Showed him just how little class some of us Americans have.

I agree with you David but I’ve also seen some really bad spelling from other countries. Seems the internet is loaded with bad spellers and “toilet mouths” that don’t know any other way to make a point.

      • r€nato
      • August 29th, 2009

Seriously? It’s one of those all-American things – like wasting energy and having the most overpriced and underdelivering health care system in the world – to misspell and be proud of it?

      • Val
      • August 30th, 2009

Hey Mikey…nice attitude. You really should reserve the nastiness for something a little more important than your spelling.

  2. she is funny. my wife and i love her commercials a lot. for those who reject her, you have a problen. have some professional advise. you have no humor. smile for a change. specially barb. you are more funnier than stephanie. and your grammar sucks. admit it. most americans have problem with their spellings. and mr. mikeybombers, you are a writer? my goodness, watch your choice of words. what kind of writer are you? wall writer?

  3. Aw shucks..don’t people know how to be nice..well..this Lady is what we see little of in the service industry..She is attentive, intutive, enthusiastic, and she is cute…Love the hair..and the lipstick! Why is it so many people need to be negative? Is this how they feel powerful…well be that way….ya need to learn to dance in the rain!!!

  4. And furthermore….you choose to be the way you are…..so be miserable….let those of us who have joy……keep it and spread it…irregardless of you…..you don’t rock most people. We just allow you to become invisible….

    • Merc
    • August 29th, 2009

    “irregardless” isn’t a word…..

  5. He spelled role correctly. He didn’t use roll.
Vero, use english!! And, irregardless is not a word!!

    • Nigel
    • August 29th, 2009

The origin of irregardless is not known for certain, but the speculation among references is that it may be a blend, or portmanteau word, of irrespective and regardless, both of which are commonly accepted standard English words. By blending these words, an illogical word is created. Another possibility is that when people say “irregardless” they are following the pattern of words like irrational and irregular. “Since the prefix ir- means ‘not’ (as it does with irrespective), and the suffix -less means ‘without,’ irregardless is a double negative.”[1] According to the Oxford English Dictionary, Irregardless was first acknowledged in 1912 by the Wentworth American Dialect Dictionary as originating from western Indiana. Barely a decade later, the usage dispute over irregardless was such that, in 1923, Literary Digest published an article titled “Is There Such a Word as Irregardless in the English Language?”[2]

By the way, even though I would never use their insurance, I DO like the actress in their commercials for many of the reasons mentioned. As for all the negative people, try being more positive for a change if you can.

    • August 29th, 2009

look it up irregardless or not if you think it’s not a word what a dip stick

    • August 29th, 2009

Kathy you are so right and she is not bone skinny! That’s refreshing!

    • Cathy
    • August 29th, 2009

This lady is AWESOME! She just looks and seems so natural and real in these commercials.

  6. Would never buy Progressive Insurance! Sickening sex ad; am tired of red, red lips acting as though she had a regular product for sale!

    • dachshundog
    • August 29th, 2009

Funny is one thing, stupid is another. The problem with the commercial is the fault of the writers. No one escape an inherently dumb story line. Well, maybe that isn’t correct, I just press the channel button on the remote and boom, just like Flo says, power to the people.

Worse than their commercials, there is another problem with Progressive. They prefer to collect premiums and lot more than they are willing to pay claims.

    • mickey
    • August 29th, 2009

she absolutely is the ugliest woman on tv.thanks to her I cancelled my progressive policy and went to the lizard. saved a lot of money

  7. who cares if, irregardless is a word, if someone tells a asshole to fuck off. you people need a life.

  8. and because of stephanie and the lady’s friend who works at progressive.(don’t know if she was the one we talked to on the phone) but because of the two factors above. my wife and i have decided to switch our home owner’s and car insureance over to progressive.

    • Nigel
    • August 29th, 2009

    And the negativity continues…………Sad.

    • Sue
    • August 29th, 2009

This actress is so annoying I would not buy Progressive insurance if it was the cheapest and best insurance on the planet.

  9. nigel, what is sad is people who like to stick their big noses in other peoples business.

      • Nigel
      • August 30th, 2009

??? You talking about me? If so, explain how I did that exactly.

    • Babs
    • August 29th, 2009

Well Progressive knew how to get people to remember their name and ads. Weather it is positive or negitive the marking company did thier jobs.

    • r€nato
    • August 29th, 2009

funny the reactions these ads get. I used to think they were awesome but I am tired of them now.
My stepfather hates the ads. It would seem that provoke similar reactions in others. Love it or hate it.

And that, my friends, is a successful advertisement because we all know it and we all know the name of the company that paid for it.

    • r€nato
    • August 29th, 2009

by the way, Ms. Courtney is a lot more attractive in the ads than in that photo…

    • BigBen
    • August 29th, 2009

Well, I think she is HOT, IRREGARDLESS of what any of the rest of you say! And I’v been with Progressive for years, and am happy. (Haven’t had to file a claim yet, though!) And lastly, yes, Americans are in general as stupid as piles of gravel and couldn’t spell their way out of a paper bag. And I’m an American myself! If ya don’t like that, then exert yourself a little bit and use your cranium for something other than watching drivel on the tube. Off of soapbox…… OUT!

    • August 29th, 2009

“and we’re walking, we’re walking…” I laugh out loud every time I hear that line.

  10. I just love the dickens out of Flo!! She is so cute and dipsy that she makes me smile every time one of here commercials airs!

  11. Wait! Wait! Don’t murder me with words, I meant “she makes me smile every time one of her commercials air!” lmao

  12. First of all, it’s just an ad campaign- lighten up people. Second, “Flo” is a steriotyped character based on old roadside diner waitresses and if your old enough to remember them thats just the way they were- over the top. As far as her atractineness is concern, well to each his own- personally Steph fits my deffinition just fine thankyou very much.

    Mikeybombers,

Rather than get mad at all the Grammar Nazi’s, why don’t you just edit their posts to indicate their preference for ponies and flavored lubricants?

    It’s your blog, I’m just sayin’…..

  13. Most of the people have missed the point. Advertizing is all about getting the consumer’s attention with a product that is competitive or better and has availability. Most of this is met. Like her or not she is doing her job to the satisfaction of the company. I would suspect she has a bright future. Chances are, after progressive, there will be other assignments she will offered, at more money. I think that is what is is about.
    Mark
P.S. I hope I spelled everything correctly. I would not want the message to be lost for lack of correct spelling.

Hey, no insurance company does what they are supposed to do- but she makes me laugh- I’m jealous of her 900B twin motorcycle- she’s a lot better than the gecko lately-
besides, she is not competing as a diva or dressed like a sleeze. Good clean funny stuff- if you don’t like it go watch the crap on HBO !!!

    • August 30th, 2009

Wow. I can’t believe some people have nothing else to say than the garbage I’ve seen here! Really? All this because of a television ad? What exactly makes you so angry about it? It’s an ad, for Pete’s sake! Mute her if you don’t like her. Think about something more important, like starving children or when Jesus is returning.

      • Nigel
      • August 30th, 2009

Val, I agree with you 100%. Especially about Jesus.

Yes I am. I attend church weekly and now that my work hours have changed I hope to get more involved. I read the bible daily and sometimes it astounds me that with all the evidence surrounding all of us as daily well as everything that has happened throughout history that more people don’t realize how much of the bible is true. Too many have scales on their eyes and their hearts. I am also very happy to meet a fellow believer of The Way (Christianity).

To all you guys, who have something to say about my grammar, & my attitude towards the guy who has the balls to criticize my spelling think of this. I posted this more then a week ago, you continue to light the fire with your comments about my vulgar language towards the person who offended me. I have the right to say what I like to whomever Because this is a free country. And this is my blog You claim to talk about my nasty attitude but you really don’t know how my attitude was whether I said it out of the pure idgaf thought or whether I was truly upset by his post. I told mark to “Fuck Off” because I wanted to. I had no malice in my post I just told him what he could do if he had a problem with my post or how me or anybody I work with run things around here. Don’t like it build your own blog. Now you guys have an internet family because most of you entertained yourself with no reply from me until now. So what I prescribe most of you to do, is to jot down each others emails & talk to each other about your problems & who’s wife is fucking who’s husband. Or you could just stay here keep talking about how my attitude is or whatever I really don’t mind. I kinda am surprised that this post has gotten us over 4,000+ views but we really apperatice the love even from the ones who hate me. Have a nice day. oh read my personal blog asigo.tumblr.com

  14. Thanks for the great article.

  15. I just wanted to say to all you bad spellers, good spellers, americans, non-americans that well… fuck you, seriously.

I can’t STAND her character and these ads – what a BIMBO! You say funny?! WHERE is there any comedy or humor?! DITZ is NOT funny. It is VERY passe humor and sorry, I just cannot stand watching or listening to this woman…. I actually have to shut the TV off or leave the room as my stomach starts to turn.

Also, as I am an insurance agent in 45 US States, take my strong advice: Don’t believe the BS Progressive is throwing you…. do your OWN shopping around. Progressive offers great rates in many places and for different driving records, they do not offer great rates for everybody(just like EVERY carrier). They are especially decent if you have incidents on your record however they may or may not be the best rate you can get. And don’t believe any agent who tells you they shopped every carrier and got you the best rate out there. They lie because there is not one broker that has been licensed to carry every insurance company. SHOP AROUND! A little known company in California and in Oregon offers THE lowest rates that I have found. They have an A+ rating with the appropriate agencies which is a lot more than many of them. The company is Wawanesa, http://www.wawanesa.com/
I am with them. I have been in an accident, they came out to my home to see the car the very next day! It was the other party’s fault, they had a check cut for me one day after the adjuster came out. EXCEPTIONAL. For the heck of it though, I decided to get quotes with other agencies. AARP Hartford – what a joke! I think it was close to 4 times as much. Mercury, which is known to be one of THE lowest rates in the LA area and So Cal was DOUBLE. They quoted me a price for 6 months and I laughed, told the agent I was paying LESS than that for a one year policy with Wawanesa. Forget about AAA and 21st Century – in most places. There are a few scattered spots where they might be good but with ANY carrier, things change all the time. Wawanesa does not spend money on advertising, it is all word of mouth as this is one way to keep rates down…. PLUS to save their customers from obnoxious FLO-Like Ditzes…. for those of you who like her, good for you. Different strokes for different Flo-kes. Have a nice night and happy driving. Egads… she just came on again in the other room…. I have to vomit….

I just have to comment about this commercial.First off this is not good marketing, throwing tens of millions of dollars to air a commercial every other tv break to hammer a name brand on the public is just annoying and spam.Constant spamming of anything will make you remember, but to a normal human being it would just irritate and completely turn off the poor victim. This commercial was cute the first 3 times it aired now its just spam.People whom still enjoy this lady are obviously demented and should work in the service industry.
